sip on this: spiked apple cider
I believe in practicing art in my everyday life. One practice that has more recently sparked my creative juices, so to speak, is mixology. Mixology is the art and craft of making drinks. With the temperature cooling here in Georgia and across the country, I thought it would be fun to share a recipe for a warm cocktail here on The Anuliverse. When it comes to spirits, dark rum is my favorite, so here is an easy recipe for a Spiked Apple Cider with dark rum.
and, another thing:
If I have the option of putting my dollars towards a Black-owned business then I’m going to do that. I strive to source spirits from Black-owned companies for all of my cocktails. This cider features a dark rum from Ten to One. Ten to One is a rum company that was founded by entrepreneur and former Starbucks Senior Vice President, Marc-Kwesi Farrell with singer-entrepreneur Ciara as an investor.
The ginger syrup I used for this recipe is a spicy ginger beer syrup that was handcrafted in Atlanta, Georgia by 18.21 Bitters. 18.21 Bitters is a female, Black, and LGBT-owned company founded by Missy and Kristin Koefod. I didn’t actually know this when I purchased the syrup, but it was a pleasant surprise. In this case, I purchased it simply because I love anything that is ginger-flavored, especially ginger beer.
Some of you may naturally be wondering whether I have watched the competition series, Drink Masters, on Netflix? Yes, I have and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The contestants on that show are the best of the best!
Rum has been used for medicinal purposes since its inception, so if you are dealing with a pesky bug due to the changing temperatures then this may be just the drink for you to sip on as you heal. But, don’t take medical advice from me. I’m working to become a doctor of cultural anthropology, not of medicine.
