I may not be hip to all the latest music, but podcasts....podcasts are my jam. I started listening to podcasts in high school. I had just finished reading "Freakonomics" by Stephen J. Dubner and Steven Levitt and was excited that each week the authors expanded on the book via a podcast on iTunes. This was around 2007 and podcasts weren't nearly as popular as they are today. According to Edison Research, only 13% Americans over the age of 12 had ever listened to a podcast in 2007. That percentage has nearly tripled since then. Now 36% of Americans over the age of 12 have listened to a podcast.
It is unclear how many podcasts exist today because anyone can make a podcast on their own and post them on a variety of platform such as iTunes, Google Play, Soundcloud, Stitcher, and Acast among many more. I can tell you that there are A LOT more podcasts available today than when I first started listening to podcasts in 2007 and I can guarantee that if you have an interest there is probably a podcast about it. If you are among the 64% of Americans over the age of 12 that have yet to ever listen to a podcast it can be daunting to figure out how to start. Or, if you're among the 36% of Americans over the age of 12 that have listened to a podcast maybe you're looking for a new podcast to listen. Either way, I am here to help. Below are 45 podcasts that are currently in my queue. Click on each image for a link to get you started on your podcast listening adventure. Thank me later.
